The Urban Agenda: Vancouver
The collective efforts of all three levels of government and community organizations have furthered pluralism, inclusion and citizen engagement in Vancouver; however, managing diversity and race relations in large cities with rapidly evolving demographics remains a daunting task.
Vancouver’s commitment to diversity and inclusiveness is reflected in the City’s mission statement:
“To create a great city of communities, which cares about its people, its environment, and the opportunities to live, work and prosper.”
This is the fourth Roundtable in the CRRF’s six-city series – The Urban Agenda: Race Relations and Multiculturalism in Canadian Cities. A panel of thought-leaders will lead the discussion about Vancouver’s challenges in squaring the realities of being fourth in the world for foreign-born residents with its mission “to create a great city of communities”.
The panel will discuss:
How do people of various cultural, social, religious and ethnic backgrounds live together harmoniously?
