Media Democracy Days Annual Fundraiser: Bandwidth 2014
Media Democracy Days is hosting its annual fundraiser in the heart of the Commercial Drive neighbourhood. Astorino’s Hall is a space under the loving care of Britannia Community Services Centre, and it’s become a hub of community activity.
The event features exciting local acts, including Night Bus, Red Hot Icicles Burning on Fire, and Nouveau Cliché. As well, MDD has been blessed with a variety of spoken word performers including Libby Osler, Chelene Knight and Amal Rana.
In addition to musical and spoken performances, you’ll see digital projection and film art by local artists, colour at the art station (colouring pages for our guests courtesy of local artists and supplies thanks to Opus), explore a fantastic zine reading library, and bid on items in the silent auction (thanks to a range of local businesses and artisans!). Come out to show support for independent music and democratic media! Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. All proceeds will benefit this year’s Media Democracy Days conference.
