Jane’s Walk Walking Tours
Volunteer Walk Leaders Needed to Give Jane’s Walk Walking Tours
What do you find compelling about your city; its people, stories and history; its little free libraries; its street art or endless stream of coffee shops? How about it’s potential to get even better?
From May 1 to 3, you’re invited to lead a free Jane’s Walk in the area you live, work or play to discuss matters important to you. Come one, come all — anyone can lead a walking tour!
Use these simple steps to lead a Jane’s Walk:
1. Decide what you want to talk about
2. Plan out a route by going for a walk
3. Enter your walk on janeswalk.or
4. Get the word out to friends, neighbours and anyone you might want to attend your walk!
Through the simple act of walking together and discussing what makes a neighbourhood, Jane’s Walk helps knit people into strong and resourceful communities. The festival is inspired by urbanist and author, Jane Jacobs who believed in walkable neighbourhoods, urban literacy, and cities planned by and for the people. Created in 2007 by friends of the urban thinker, the Jane’s Walk Festival has grown from 27 to over 1000 walks around the world.
Jane’s Walks are as diverse and unique as any community. Since a Jane’s Walk is meant to be a ‘walking conversation’ about neighbourhoods and how people use cities, the choice of ‘conversation’ and the places you choose to visit are really up to you!
