Bike Café: All Weather Cycling

January 13, 2015
6 PM – 7 PM

SFU Philosopher’s Cafe and The City Program are pleased to introduce a series of Bike Cafés, which will take place along major commuter cycling routes at cyclist friendly coffee bars in Vancouver. This new series engages with Vancouver’s cycling community and others interested in discussions regarding the sustainable evolution of our cityscape.

Currently, cycling levels fall significantly when in it rains. Moderated by Richard Campbell, this Bike Cafe will explore the measures and policies that will encourage more all weather cycling.

With over 17 years of expertise in cycling and sustainable transportation, Richard Campbell is a founder of the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition, the British Columbia Cycling Coalition (BCCC) and Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST). He is also a member of the City of Vancouver’s Bicycle Advisory Committee and has successfully championed the 30 kilometer Central Valley Greenway, wider sidewalks on the Lions Gate Bridge and the bicycle path on the North Arm (Canada Line) Bridge.

Richard did not have a bicycle as a child and did not learn how to cycle until his early twenties. Ever since, he has been making up for lost time.
