The UN recently posted that women and girls “have never been closer to achieving gender equality, and never closer to losing it.” Around the world, the rights of women are under threat, or being rolled back, and Vancouver is not immune to these challenges.

Equity, belonging, culture, urban change, and public safety are just some of the issues shaping how women move through, create, and activate public space. Join us for a conversation about these opportunities for change, and about the women-led initiatives and intersectional perspectives helping reshape public life so it’s more accessible for everybody.

This event will showcase important stories about the work of local placemakers and public space advocates and the work they are doing to make change. Participants are also invited to help identify key public space priorities for the upcoming election, so we can work together to effect change in our city.
