VPSN 2025 By-Election Candidate Survey (Updated Mar 19)

A by-election is being held in the city on April 5, 2025, and two seats at the Council table are up for grabs!
For the past several elections, the Vancouver Public Space Network (VPSN) has worked to help voters better understand the perspectives of candidates running for office. For the upcoming by-election, we’ve prepared a short candidate survey focused on public space matters. The questions cover a variety of topics, some more general in nature, some more closely related to current issues. We’ve shared the survey with all the candidates, sharing news via email, social media channels or both.
We invited each candidate to share their responses so that public space enthusiasts and other Vancouverites can get to know them better.
Questions are intentionally open-ended. We told candidates that their answers could be as long or as short as they like, and that they can include examples or precedents if they wish. We’ll publish the answers in their entirety on our website within 48 hours of receiving them. Let’s see what they have to say about public space in the city!
Responses Received (as of March 19, 2025):
We’ve now posted answers from Karin Litzcke, Jeanifer Decena, Guy Dubé, Sean Orr, Colleen Hardwick, and Theodore Abbott.
Other Candidates:
- We’ve received word from Lucy Maloney and Annette Reilly that they will be providing responses shortly.
- We are still waiting to hear from Rollergirl, Charles Ling, Ralph Kaisers, Jaime Stein and Gerry McGuire. Hopefully soon!
