Civic Buildings Explorer’s Day + Call for Volunteers – Sunday, October 15
This coming Sunday, October 15, the VPSN and a team of volunteers will be taking to the streets to explore a selection of Vancouver’s indoor public spaces.
As part of our new Civic Buildings portfolio, we’ll be exploring libraries, community centres, galleries, educational buildings and other indoor spaces that perform a civic function. Visits could also include privately owned spaces that foster a sense of community such as a local corner store or a second-hand book shop.
We invite you to join us for this pilot study which will kick off downtown. We’ll be looking at these buildings and measuring their sense of “publicness” by considering factors such as accessibility, diversity of users and governance. We will provide participants with a toolkit, including a map and a set of challenges for the day. We just ask that you bring a camera, comfortable clothing and a curious mind.
Our civic buildings event takes place on October 15, 1pm-4pm. Meeting location TBD.
