Mountain View Cemetery Bike Tour – Pay respect to Vancouver’s original bike geeks!

I’ve written previously about how much I love Mountain View Cemetery. Indeed, I would rank it as one of my personal best public spaces in the city. It’s a big, beautiful, peaceful place of reflection. Also, it’s incredibly bikeable.

The Vancouver Heritage Foundation agrees with me. Mountain View Cemetery has been awarded a Places that Matters Plaque through the Vancouver Heritage Foundation. This honour recognizes Mountain View Cemetery as one of the initial 125 unique and historical places in the City of Vancouver.

If you dig Vancouver history, bikes, and a great public space, then I recommend joining Tour Leader John Atkin for a bicycle tour on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1:15 pm. The tour costs $10 and will visit the graves of early citizens and people involved in the early bicycle industry. Tour goes rain or shine. No reservations necessary. Meet at Celebration Hall, 5445 Fraser St. (entrance at 39th Ave.)
