PARJ(ing) Day is an international annual event where everyday people transform metered parking spots into temporary park spaces. As stated by Rebar, the creators of the event, PARK(ing) Day is strictly a non-commercial project, intended to promote creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking, unscripted social interactions, generosity and play.”

This year’s event will take place on Friday September 17th, 2010. VPSN is planning to host multiple spots and we want your involvement! We’re looking for input from creative people with ideas for converting boring parking spots into playful, active, thought-provoking spaces. This can include benches, gardens, trees, art installations, music, performance art, etc. You can have full creative control of your spot. If you are an artist, activist, group or average citizen and you have an idea or want to participate, come to the PARK(ing) Day planning meeting:

Date: Tuesday August 3, 2010
Time: 6:00pm
Place: The Grind (4124 Main St.)

Check out the official PARK(ing) Day website for more information: http://www.parkingday.org/
