EcoDensity Ideas Fair and VPSN Backgrounder

The City of Vancouver has recently launched a new initiative called “EcoDensity” which will attempt to map a course for future development that encourages increased density, while at the same time reducing the city’s ecological footprint.

This is a much-hyped project that has a lot of potential. As part of the activities connected with EcoDensity there is also an Ideas Fair being held on March 3-4 at Riley Park Community Centre at 30th and Ontario. We are encouraging people to attend and to let the City know that a strong public realm needs to be part of any and all planning criteria for the future.

The VPSN has also prepared a brief backgrounder on EcoDensity that outlines the concept as we understand it, it’s implications for urban design and public space, and some the issues that we feel need to be addressed as part of this project.
