June 6, 2017
7 PM – 9 PM

The following event is being organized by Helena Seiferling, Ela Esra Gunad, Robert Matas, and Mark Freisen

Electoral reform has been dominating provincial headlines over the past few weeks. But reform is on the agenda in Vancouver, too.

In 2016, the City of Vancouver convened an Independent Election Task Force, comprised of members of the public, to explore electoral reforms the City could undertake. The Task Force completed its report in January 2017, and City staff are expected to report back by the end of June.

Come join members of the Task Force and other engaged residents to discuss reforms at the city level!

Task Force members will share and discuss their recommendations in four key areas:
-Campaign finance reform,
-Proportional representation,
-Extending voting rights to permanent residents, and
-Voter engagement.

Representatives of local community organizations will also be invited to respond to the Task Force’s recommendations and deepen our conversations.

Then, we’ll open the floor to your input. Which issues matter most to you? What next steps would you like to see on these issues?

Let’s start a discussion about making our elections easier and better for everyone.
