RainCheque: NeighbourMaker Design Jam
The VPSN is proud to participate in the following event hosted by MOV and Vancouver Design Nerds (VDN). Join us in hearing from this summer’s NeighbourMaker team as they share stories about some exciting new placemaking projects that promote inclusion and connectivity in Vancouver.
The event features additional presentations on placemaking by Krisztina Kassay (VIVA), Caroline Ballhorn (Tin Can Studio), Ryan Betts (Bazinga!), and Andrew Pask (VPSN), as well as a special VDN Design Jam entitled RainCheque! The Jam will focus on a very timely question: How can we make new social connections in therain?
Tickets – $11 for MOV members, $15 for non-members. Visit the RainCheque Eventbrite page
Inspiration.
Come hear from this summer’s NeighbourMaker team as they share stories and learnings about the development of projects that promote inclusion and connectivity in Vancouver. We will review the inspiring work of the participating student Neighbourmaker designers: The Campfire Project, Peeple Panorama, and Big Picture, Small Space. These projects are described in the new NeighbourMaker mini-catalogue, which will be presented. For additional inspiration, we have invited movers and shakers of Vancouver’s placemaking community: Krisztina Kassay (VIVA), Caroline Ballhorn (Tin Can Studio), Ryan Betts (Bazinga!) and Andrew Pask (VPSN), to share brief presentations.
Action.
In the spirit of NeighbourMaking, we’ve invited the Vancouver Design Nerds to host a special Design Jam entitled RainCheque! It will focus on the question: How can we make new social connections in the rain? The Museum of Vancouver’s NeighbourMaker challenges you to design tools that encourage Vancouverites to connect with each other in rainy public spaces, rather than waiting until spring. What would this look like? Enormous umbrellas that a crowd holds up? A mobile hairdryer station?
Thanks.
Thanks to the support of the Vancouver Foundation and Bazinga!, NeighbourMaker, is offering mentorship and assistance with the funding of the development of a prototype of the top RainCheque concept developed during the Design Jam.
