Workshop: Making the Links

October 19, 2014
1 PM – 3 PM

A Right to Remain Community Fair workshop for the first Downtown Eastside SRO Tenant Convention.

Participate in the Right to Remain Community Fair (RRCF) 2 hour workshop called “Making the Links”, to help link past struggles and histories of displacement in the Downtown Eastside with its current struggles.

The Fair has been holding creative workshops on Human Rights since July. It is part of the research project “Revitalizing Japantown?: A unifying exploration of human rights, branding and place in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside”.

The Fair brings together present and past DTES residents – especially low-income, Japanese Canadian and other racialized groups – to tell the City, the public and each other that state supported dispossession of property, livelihood, or community, whether by racism, policing, or urban planning and “revitalization” are acts of violence against people and violations of their Human Rights, especially their Right to Remain in the DTES.

For more information visit www.revitalizingjapantown.ca

The Japanese Hall is an accessible space. All bathrooms have 8 x 6’ doorways, and larger bathroom stalls.
