To mark the occasion we’re throwing a kick-ass party in one of downtown Vancouver’s most temporal public spaces – the Pendulum Gallery. You’re invited! Help us to celebrate a decade of placemaking, public space advocacy and urban shenanigans.

THEME: “Time and Place”

To realize the theme of “time and place,” we’ll be transforming the gallery with a series of installations and animation stations. What’s on order? Lots!

• A city-history movie theatre
• Music courtesy of VPSN -alum and local celeb DJ Simon
• A market (featuring awesome local artisans + one international guest!)
• An interactive “design the city” art wall
• Large format games
• A fortune teller
• A place for sublime portraiture
• Food and drink (including a cash bar with local beer + wine)
• Expo 86 “An Unofficial History” display
• and lots of other activities, including some very special guests

Even more fun: The VPSN Time & Place party will also be the capstone event of Vancouver’s first #POPcrawl – a self-guided exploration of Vancouver public space, with a focus on new and emergent placemaking initiatives.

This free event will kick off at the #POPCrawl Launch from 5PM to 6:30PM at the 800 Block of Robson Street (south plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery) with food trucks and other activities at 6PM.

Grab a #POPCrawl Passport and venture out to discover downtown Vancouver’s public spaces like you’ve never seen them before. Once you’re done, head over to the Pendulum Gallery to join us the Time & Place party.

Note: Most #POPCrawl sites will be activated from 5-8PM. Refer to the online map for more details for each site.

As many of you will know, this fall Vancouver is hosting hundreds of practitioners, policy makers, and activists from around the world for Placemaking Week (PW) September 12-17. Several Canadians are already planning to attend some portion of, or all of the week. As part of the week’s activities, we’re pleased to announce a special meeting for Canadian placemakers, on Saturday, September 17th from 10 am – 5 pm.You’re invited!
