Transportation
The VPSN's Working Group for People-Moving Infrastructure - including public transit, bikes and bike lanes, and the streets, sidewalks and laneways on which we move, sit and play.

In January 2008, VPSN members created a new working group in response to the Network's increasing activity in the area of transportation. Our initial foray into this area has been concerned with assessing the City's bicycle locking infrastructure; however, our work has diversified and involves collaborative ventures in other areas - including providing support to the various car-free festivals taking place in the city, providing critical commentary on the decision to install CCTV in buses, and assessing new streetscape design activites and their impact on the public realm.
The Transportation webpage is in the process of being developed... so please check back for updates and new materials over the next few weeks and months. To lend a hand with this working group, please contact coordinator Karen Parusel at karen | at | vancouverpublicspace.ca.
Burrard Bridge Trial Reallocation
The VPSN supports the City's Trial Lane Reallocation - which creates a safe, separated bike lane on the Burrard Bridge. We've produced some material on and about the initiative. || More...
Bike Parking Infrastructure
The VPSN assessed the quality and quantity of bicycle parking infrastructure in Vancouver’s commercial and entertainment districts to determine the need for more, or different, cycling infrastructure. We conducted background research of municipal plans and current parking options, as well as conducted a case study of five sample areas.
You can download the report here. This report was released in July 2009 and is being used to advocate for better infrastructure. || More...
