Canada’s largest celebration of Japanese Canadian arts & culture held in Vancouver’s historic Japanese Canadian neighbourhood. All events are free!

☆ A special presentation by iconic Japanese author HARUKI MURAKAMI’s top translators JAY RUBIN and TED GOOSSEN

☆ Dynamic duo GEORGE & NORIKO – a
Japanese blues cowboy and Tsugaru shamisen player from Melbourne, Australia. Two performances including one accompanied by BERNIE ARAI and BRIAN MINATO.

☆ Japan’s ENSEMBLE LIBERTA playing their classical Japanese instruments

☆ Film screenings co-presented by Hapa-palooza Festival of the award-winning short BORN WITH IT and the web series ALMOST ASIAN with creator/actress KATIE MALIA in attendance from Los Angeles

☆ A special presentation on Japan’s Third Gender curated by ASATO IKEDA

☆ A production of NeOn-ね音 – MAYUMI YOSHIDA’s play about love inspired by her late grandmother’s arranged marriage

☆ Numerous Taiko groups including California’s JODAIKO

☆ Reading from “Are You An Echo?” by festival favourite SALLY ITO

☆ Live calligraphy by KISYUU

☆ Performances by JOY KOGAWA and SORAMARU TAKAYAMA

☆ Ottawa-based artist MATT MIWA
